Brainerd 2.0: Project 2 North Plan Overview
10:46Brainerd Public Schools Superintendent Chip Rankin presents Project 2 North, also called Brainerd 2.0, a preliminary plan to address a recurring $3 million budget gap driven by enrollment changes, student transfers, and excess building capacity. The plan includes 11 potential changes projected to create up to $4.5 million in savings or new revenue, including returning fifth grade to elementary schools, relocating preschools, restructuring Forest View and alternative learning programs, regionalizing specialized education services, expanding programs and online enrollment, reducing district-office costs, and testing two-tier busing. No decisions have been made. Families and staff are asked to provide feedback through ThoughtExchange before the December 14 board decision.
