PPT to PDF for Documents
00:04 |
To begin my storyboard, I'm going to save this PowerPoint as a PDF so that I can work from it rather than starting from a blank canvas.
00:12 |
So in that case, the first step is to save as a PDF.
00:16 |
I'm going to save it to my desktop as this will be the quickest place for me to access it again.
00:23 |
Here is the PDF view for the file I saved.
00:27 |
I'll close it for now until I upload it to screenpal.
00:35 |
Next, open up your screenpal app and you'll need to select story at the top right of the screen.
00:41 |
Storyboard
00:41 |
Then select storyboard.
00:43 |
I'll show you how to toggle views later as I have a PDF file ready.
00:49 |
I will select to start from a document and upload the PDF I saved on my desktop.
01:02 |
This is the view. Once the file is uploaded, each tile represents a slide and there is space underneath to write your script as you prepare.
01:13 |
Insert audio
01:13 |
Then you can select the audio icon on the right of the tile.
01:17 |
Options include recording your narration, uploading, or adding music.
01:21 |
Select record narration and you will see the script above the record button.
01:25 |
When you select record, it gives a three second countdown.
01:29 |
Be sure to choose the microphone you want for the recording.
01:33 |
When you are finished, select done and you can listen back to it to check that it is good enough.
01:41 |
If you need to do it again, you can remove the narration and start again.
01:50 |
There is an area to write any comments as you are editing to help you along the way.
02:01 |
Transitions
02:01 |
The first icon on the left is to add a transition.
02:04 |
There are several types to choose from.
02:06 |
Move your cursor over the various types to see a preview and choose the one youd like to use.
02:11 |
You can select play again to see the result.
02:15 |
It's also possible to lengthen or shorten the transition from dragging it on the timeline.
02:23 |
Add section
02:23 |
If you want to add additional images or videos, select the plus section button to add another tile.
02:30 |
You can then populate it with any media you have. To toggle views, The icon on the top right of the screen next to the delete icon will do just that.
02:35 |
Storyboard to script view
02:39 |
The script view just focuses more on scripting.
02:42 |
It still has the same options as storyboard for adding transitions and media.
02:54 |
You can select the button again to revert back to the other view.
03:05 |
Editing
03:05 |
If you wish to edit the video further by using the range of screenpile tools such as overlays, select the edit video button on the right of the timeline that will then open the video in the desktop editor.
03:17 |
From there, edit it as you would a normal video.
03:21 |
One thing that is important to note is that you should do your editing, especially if you are speeding up or cutting parts first.
03:28 |
That way it will not affect your narration.
03:31 |
Once you are done, you can download the file onto your computer if you'd like, or publish it to the web app to be stored in the cloud.
03:43 |
From there, it's possible to add further edits such as interactivity and quizzing.
